Local MP Mark Pawsey will be joining local residents, volunteers and councillors in Hillmorton this Saturday to “Clean for The Queen”.
Mark is calling for as many local volunteers as possible to help get involved in the initiative around Rugby over the weekend. The national campaign brings together anti-litter organisations from across the UK to deliver Britain’s largest litter pick ahead of the Queens 90th birthday.
Local community groups, including parish councils, residents’ associations, Girl guides, Brownies, Scouts and Cub troops, have been working together to organise litter picks around the town in the build up to the official “Clean for The Queen” weekend over 4th - 6th March.
Mark said:
“‘Clean for the Queen’ is a great opportunity for the community to come together ahead of the Queen’s official 90th birthday on the 21st April. This Saturday, along with local Conservative councillors, I am organising a group of volunteers to help litter pick in Hillmorton. We are meeting in the car park of the Bell Inn, on High Street in the village, at 10am and I hope people will come and join us.”
Mark continued:
“I know that some local residents have already taken part in litter picks around the town as part of the ‘Clean for the Queen’ initiative and I hope that more will join me in Hillmorton this Saturday. During my time as Rugby’s MP I have been heavily involved in Parliament at looking into the best ways to combat littering and fly tipping. Keeping Britain tidy is something I am passionate about and that’s why I am so supportive of ‘Clean for the Queen’.”
Mark concluded:
“The sense of community spirit in Rugby is something that we can all be very proud; this Saturday is another opportunity for us to showcase it.”
