Local MP Mark Pawsey has welcomed new figures showing that Conservative policies are helping people across the country and here in Rugby onto the housing ladder. Figures recently released show that:
• 112 hardworking families in Rugby have been able to get an affordable mortgage and buy their own home thanks to the Conservative’s Help to Buy schemes.
• 39 families in Rugby have been able to purchase their council house since we increased the Right to Buy discounts available to tenants.
Mark said: ‘The last Government’s Great Recession led to a collapse in house building and meant hardworking people in all parts of the country were unable to get on the housing ladder.”
‘That’s why this Government, as part of our long-term economic plan, launched Help to Buy and reinvigorated Right to Buy so that more people could get on the housing ladder. Since Help to Buy was launched, 112 families in Rugby have been able to buy their own home while 39 people have been able to purchase their council house.
‘With new homes currently under construction in Rugby thanks to the Conservative-led Borough Council’s proactive attitude to development even more families will now be able to achieve their dream of owning their own home and enjoy greater financial security thanks to the Conservatives."
