Parliament welcomed soft drinks manufacturer Britvic to celebrate the 81st anniversary of the partnership between Wimbledon and the Robinsons brand. Rugby MP Mark Pawsey hosted the reception and spoke about the importance of our manufacturing industry and encouraging investment in local communities.
The event, which gave Members of Parliament the chance to meet with leading industry representatives from Robinsons and their parent company, Britvic. During the reception they were able to highlight the key role which sponsorship plays in promoting sports and sporting investment.
Britvic, who manufacture a range of soft drinks including Robinsons, are a major employer in Rugby and have taken on a number of apprentices over the past year.
Speaking after the event, Mark said:
“I was delighted to be able to welcome Britvic to Parliament. They are a great local employer and it is now more important than ever to focus on investing in skills and manufacturing. I have visited Britvic in Rugby on a number of occasions and their commitment to training apprentices is very encouraging.”
Mark continued:
“Robinsons’ partnership with Wimbledon is the second longest running sports sponsorship in history. Hosting Britvic and Robinsons in Parliament was also a fantastic chance to talk about their support for British sport and how businesses can help champion the next generation of British talent.”
Mark concluded:
“I was very pleased to be able to talk to representatives of Britvic and fellow MPs from all parties about the contribution businesses can make to their local community. The historic link between Robinsons and Wimbledon is one of which they can rightly be proud and I always welcome the opportunity to support this great business with strong links to Rugby.”
