Local MP Mark Pawsey took on the role of a ‘dragon’ in a National Citizen Service Dragon’s Den style event last week to judge participants on their ideas for local social action projects.
The event, held at Warwickshire College, was the culmination of an intensive, part residential, programme for young people in the area. The programme helps young people to develop important life skills, with participants reporting that the National Citizen Service significantly boosts their confidence, leadership and team-working skills.
Participants were tasked with developing a social action project to deal with an issue they care about.
Mark said:
“I fully support the National Citizen Service which has been a tremendous success since it was launched.”
Mark continued:
“The Government launched the scheme to bring together young people from different backgrounds and it was clear from the time I spent with the local participants at the Dragon’s Den event that they have thoroughly enjoyed it.”
Mark concluded:
“The scheme encourages personal and social development by working on skills such as leadership, teamwork, and community engagement. So many of the young people I spoke to at the event said they would definitely recommend the scheme to others and I hope more people look into it in the future.”
