To mark Trustees’ Week, Mark Pawsey, MP for Rugby, is celebrating the important contribution that charity trustees make to their local communities and thanking trustees for their hard work over the last year.
A wide range of activities and services are carried out by the 259 charities in Rugby, which wouldn’t be able to carry out their important work without the efforts of trustees, most of whom are volunteers.
Trustees Week runs from 2-8 November and highlights the important work that charity trustees do all year round. The week raises awareness of how people can gain valuable experience and skills through volunteering as a charity trustee. To learn more about Trustees’ Week and trusteeship, visit www.trusteesweek.org.uk and follow @trusteesweek. The website includes case studies, recruitment resources, details of local events being held during Trustees’ Week and links to trustee matching services for those who want to become a trustee.
Mark said:
“Charities wouldn’t be able to make a difference without the important contribution of charity trustees. With so many great local charities doing important work, I want to mark the start of national Trustees’ Week by thanking local charity trustees for their tireless dedication to the civic life of Rugby.”
Mark continued:
“There are many benefits to volunteering as a trustee including learning new skills and gaining valuable experience. With many charities recruiting now for trustees I would encourage anyone thinking of volunteering to give it a go. With estimates suggesting that almost half of all charities have at least one vacancy on their board there’s an organisation for you, whatever your age or background. Lots of charities need trustees who will help them achieve their goals, while volunteering as a trustee could lead to new opportunities and employment.”
Mark concluded:
“During my time as Rugby and Bulkington’s MP, I have been honoured to be able to meet with many local charities who are all doing amazing work. With so many different charities working in such a diverse range of areas, I am sure that there is one that every local resident would want to support. I hope that Trustees Week will encourage more volunteers to come forward and help out.”
