Mark Pawsey, MP for Rugby and Bulkington, last week joined apprentices, business leaders and the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, the Rt. Hon. Sajid Javid MP, for the official opening of the Lloyds Bank Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre at Ansty Park. The new state of the art training centre is based at the Manufacturing Technology Centre and will provide expert training for thousands of new apprentices from across the West Midlands.
The Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre has been funded by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and industry support, with Lloyds Bank representing the largest private sector contributor. The new training centre was officially opened by the Business Secretary, the Rt. Hon. Sajid Javid MP.
Mark said:
“The Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre will give many young people cutting edge skills which are redefining the manufacturing industry. Rugby has a historic connection to engineering and this new investment in world-class manufacturing represents the future of this industry.”
Mark continued:
“It has been a goal of the Government’s plan to rebalance the economy and invest in apprenticeships and training for young people, helping them to get the jobs and skills they need for the future. That’s why by 2020 we will create 3 million high quality apprenticeships as part of our long-term plan to rebalance the UK’s economy.”
Mark concluded:
“I was very pleased that the Business Secretary was able to visit the Manufacturing Technology Centre and see the work which is being done there. The MTC represents a real success story right here in Rugby and I am confident that the new training facility will secure the future of world-class manufacturing for future generations.”
