Local MP Mark Pawsey will be joining a Parliamentary delegation to China, organised by the All-Party Parliamentary China Group.
The trip will be focusing on continuing to develop the political, economic and cultural links between the UK and China and will see MPs meeting with their Chinese counterparts, as well as business and community leaders.
During the visit, Mark will visit two provincial capitals in western China, Chengdu and Kunming, to meet with a wide range of commercial, cultural and social organisations in China. This will include seeing the contribution that the UK has made to supporting investment in China, such as the newly built Chengdu museum which is British-designed.
Mark commented:
“China is playing an increasingly important role on the world stage, both economically and politically. It is very important that as a country, we engage constructively with China. Delegations between our Parliament and our Chinese counterparts are an important way of doing this and I am proud to be representing the UK in China next week.”
Mark continued:
“The delegation will be visiting a wide range of different groups in China. Alongside local Chinese businesses and UK based businesses operating in China, we will also be visiting Dianchi Lake and the Kunming Waterfall Park to discuss how we can work together to preserve the natural environment – a challenge that spans international borders.”
Mark concluded:
“Britain has very strong historic links with China and the Government has focused on making China a key trading partner. I am looking forward to joining my Parliamentary colleagues to help promote British expertise and build on the strong relationship between our two countries.”
