Rugby and Bulkington MP Mark Pawsey is backing Safer Internet Day 2015, an event being held on February 10th 2015. Safer Internet Day is coordinated in Britain by the UK Safer Internet Centre, a partnership of three leading charities – Childnet, the South West Grid for Learning and the Internet Watch Foundation. Globally, Safer Internet Day is celebrated in over one hundred countries and is an important way of highlighting positive uses of technology and exploring the way in which everyone can help create a better, safer online community.
Mark said:
“I feel that with the internet having become a much larger part of our day-to-day life, making sure that we understand what is out there and how our children use it is more important than ever. Being part of an online society creates some amazing opportunities, but it also has areas where we need to be careful, particularly when it comes to our children.”
Mark continued:
“This is an area that Eastlands Primary School has been working hard on already, and I think their approach of involving students is the right way to deal with this issue. The work they have done on tackling the issues of internet safety is inspirational and hope it continues.”
Mark concluded:
“The goal of Safer Internet Day is simply to raise awareness of the simple measures parents and children can take to protect themselves online. If you, like me want to support it, you can find all their details at http://www.saferinternet.org.uk/ and join me, and thousands of others using #SID2015.”
