Mark Pawsey (right) meeting with Margaret Jones (left) at the Hospital of St Cross
Mark Pawsey met with Rugby resident Mrs Margaret Jones at the Hospital of St Cross who had raised with him the delay in updating patient records, so GP’s may provide her and other patients with appropriate treatment.
Following raising this issue with Mark’s office Mrs Jones also contacted the local press, and became aware that approx. 4,000 other patients were also experiencing similar delays.
Mark immediately contacted the appropriate local health organisations (University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW), Coventry and Rugby Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), and NHS England) and the Department of Health.
As a result, UHCW had undertook a full investigation and produced an improvement plan to alleviate any future delays. The CCG also raised this matter at the Clinical Quality Review Group meeting held between the CCG and UHCW.
The backlog of patient records has now been resolved and the improvement plan put into place shall ensure a 1-2 week turnaround.
Following the meeting Mark said:
“I am delighted to see that the backlog in patient records has now been resolved following my intervention after Margaret raised the issue with me.”
Mark commented:
“After Margaret highlighted this issue I immediately contacted the relevant organisations (UHCW, CCG), including the Department of Health, all of whom responded promptly to resolve this matter, and to put into place an improvement plan to ensure a 1-2 week turnaround for local residents.”
Mark added:
“After meeting with Margaret I was very pleased to hear that her records, along with other patients’, have been uploaded on to the Clinical Result Reporting System (CRRS), so their GPs may access the medical results to enable the patients to receive the appropriate treatment.
Margaret also expressed that she could not speak more highly of the treatment she received at the Hospital of St Cross and how pleased she was that an improved system had been put in place for local residents.”
