Local MP Mark Pawsey has welcomed the decision taken by the Rt. Hon. George Osborne MP, Chancellor of the Exchequer, to award £2 million to the Children’s Air Ambulance in the Summer Budget. The Children’s Air Ambulance is a sister service to the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and operates across the entire country. Currently the service can only reach 1 in 3 of the children that need its specialised services, but it is hoped that this additional funding may enable it to help nearly all those who need it.
Mark said:
“I am delighted that the Chancellor has chosen the Children’s Air Ambulance to support with the LIBOR funding. These funds, raised from fines on the banks have been prioritised for good causes and charitable organisations and I can think of few worthier groups than the Children’s Air Ambulance.”
Mark continued:
“The Children’s Air Ambulance achieves fantastic results across the country and this additional funding will go a long way to helping to provide a second helicopter, ensuring the service can reach as many children as possible.”
Mark concluded:
“Although this additional investment will be invaluable for the Children’s Air Ambulance, there is still more to do. The charity needs to raise a further £2m to match the funding from the Government. I know that many local residents already give generously to support this charity and I hope that they will continue to do so.”
