Local MP Mark Pawsey this week wrote to local sports clubs to encourage them to take part in ‘Join In’. ‘Join In’ is a charity which supports local sports clubs by helping them to promote themselves and putting them in touch with volunteers from around the UK. ‘Join In’ was founded to deliver the London 2012 legacy and is making a great contribution to ensuring the growth of British sport.
Mark said:
“’Join In’ represents a great opportunity for dedicated local clubs here in Rugby and Bulkington to get a bit of extra support from volunteers that are out there, but may not know how to get in touch. Through ‘Join In’, local teams can boost their profile and attract additional support to help them grow and develop.”
Mark continued:
“During my time as Rugby and Bulkington’s MP, I have had the honour of meeting with hardworking volunteers and professionals across a great number of sports. I have seen first-hand how much of an inspiration a good club can be and the opportunities which that can bring. British sport is currently enjoying a period of great success, building on the legacy of London 2012 and more recently our Women’s Football team’s excellent performance at the World Cup. Here in Rugby, we have a fantastic opportunity with the upcoming Rugby World Cup to promote sport at all levels and look forward to being involved in that.”
Mark concluded:
“I have written to a number of local sports clubs here in Rugby and Bulkington, urging them to ‘Join In’. This represents a great opportunity for clubs at all levels to grow their membership, raise their profiles and attract new volunteers.”
