Local MP Mark Pawsey last week visited local businesses, schools and Warwickshire College in support of Macmillan Cancer Relief as part of their annual Macmillan Coffee Morning event. Mark visited Warwickshire College’s Rugby site, Rugby Free Primary School, Virgin Active and Motocross World all of which ran coffee mornings.
Mark said:
“Macmillan Cancer Support is a fantastic charity that does great work in supporting those who suffer from cancer and it is always a pleasure to support them. Each year, I support Macmillan either by hosting a coffee morning at my constituency office or by visiting some of the many events that take place around the constituency.”
Mark continued:
“It was a great pleasure to see all those in the community coming together to run coffee mornings. I was particularly impressed by the students at the college, who had worked together in order to host a coffee morning for other students and teachers. It was also good to meet parents of new pupils at Rugby Free Primary School, as this provides a great opportunity for parents to engage with their child’s school and the local community – and all for a great cause.”
Mark concluded:
“I am always inspired by the generosity of the people of Rugby and this year’s coffee morning was a great success for Macmillan and has raised £867,563.33 so far this year. I also welcome the progress made by the Government in supporting those who suffer from cancer. Since 2010, the Cancer Drugs Fund has helped 72,000 patients by providing some of the best drugs available for cancer patients.”
