Last week local MP Mark Pawsey met with Ruth Cooke, CEO of Midland Heart, to discuss issues relating to social housing in Rugby. Midland Heart operate a number of social housing premises in the local area.
During the meeting Mark and Ruth discussed many of the challenges faced within the social housing sector. Mark also visited some of the properties that Midland Heart provide on the Cawston estate which includes both rental and shared ownership properties.
Mark said:
“Housing Associations such as Midland Heart play a valuable role in providing properties for local people and families. It was important to meet with Ruth to discuss the role that they play in delivering Rugby’s housing needs.”
Mark continued:
“This Government will build on the achievements made in Coalition through our Help-to-Buy scheme and I was pleased to have the opportunity to discuss our proposals for extending Right-to-Buy to Housing Association tenants. When the scheme was announced the response was very positive and I will continue to engage with local providers to ensure that it is effectively delivered and that as many people as possible can achieve their dream of home ownership.”
Ruth Cooke, CEO of Midland Heart, said:
“It was great to have an opportunity to meet Mark and to show him our properties in Rugby. We'll continue to work with the Council and our partners to deliver much needed housing in the area.”
