Local MP Mark Pawsey experienced ‘Taking the Reins’ last week by learning more about a local Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) programme based in Cawston.
Part of the Circles Network ‘Taking the Reins’ is open to people of all ages and partly funded by the BBC’s Children in Need. EFL is a therapeutic approach where the individual spends time with ponies on the ground to develop their communication skills, increase confidence and learn how to build and strengthen relationships.
Children in Need fund some free sessions for children and young people under the age of 18 who are disabled or experience some kind of disadvantage, whether social, financial, emotional or behavioural.
Mark said:
“Taking the Reins is a real hidden treasure and is doing some fantastic work in the local community.”
Mark continued:
“Although I only spent a short time with Mandy Neville and her team it was clear how passionate they are about the work they are doing and the results they are achieving.”
Mark concluded:
“I would encourage anyone who feels this kind of therapy could benefit them to get in touch with the Circles Network and explore how they may be able to help.”
Mandy Neville, CEO of the Circles Network said:
"It was great that Mark gave up some of his time to take a real interest in the work of Circles Network."
